A Story of True Love

There is a Chinese love story about the 7th daughter of the Emperor of Heaven and an orphaned cowherd. Displeased with their love for one another, the emperor separated them forcing his daughter to move to Star Vega and the cowherd to move to Star Altair. However, taking pity on them, the magpies were moved by their true love to one another and gathered to form a bridge for the couple on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. From that day forward the emperor allowed them to meet once a year on this special day.
